Terms & Conditions
Ticklore · Last Updated: 10 July 2025 · Effective: 10 July 2025
1Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:
- "Ticklore", "we", "us", "our" — the watch repair workshop operating from 189 Jalan Burma, 10350 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.
- "Client", "you" — the person who engages Ticklore for watch repair services or uses the website.
- "Services" — the watch repair, servicing, and restoration work described on the Solutions page, including the Calibre Overhaul, Water Resistance Renewal, and Dial and Hand Refinishing Archive Project.
- "Watch" — the timepiece submitted by the Client for service.
- "Intake Record" — the written assessment document completed at the time the Watch is received at the workshop.
- "Scope" — the specific work to be performed, as agreed in writing before bench work commences.
- "Agreement" — these Terms and Conditions, together with any written scope or quote accepted by the Client.
2Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an enquiry through our website, attending the workshop, or authorising work to proceed by email or in person, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions. You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement. If you are submitting a watch on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have authority to do so and that these terms apply to that transaction.
3Service Description and Availability
Ticklore provides the following services as described on the Solutions page of our website:
- Self-Winding Calibre Overhaul — movement disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and rate adjustment for rotor-driven calibres. Priced at RM 720 for the standard scope.
- Water Resistance Renewal and Pressure Testing — full gasket set replacement and pressure testing to the case-stamped depth rating. Priced at RM 560.
- Dial and Hand Refinishing Archive Project — a documented project carried out with an external refinishing partner. Priced at RM 3,950 for the full scope.
Services are available to clients who bring a watch to the workshop in person or, where agreed, by post at the Client's risk and cost. Workshop availability may be limited at certain periods. We reserve the right to decline a service request if the watch is outside our technical capability or requires materials we are unable to source.
4Scope Confirmation and Parts
All bench work begins only after the Scope has been confirmed in writing — either by email or on the Intake Record. Quoted prices cover the items described in the Scope. If bench work reveals that additional parts are required beyond the confirmed Scope (for example, worn reversing wheels or a damaged crown tube), we will pause work, provide a separate quotation, and resume only after receiving your explicit agreement. No additional cost will be added to the final invoice without your prior approval.
5Client Responsibilities
- You confirm that you are the owner of the Watch or have the owner's authority to submit it for service.
- You agree to provide accurate information about the Watch's history, prior repairs, and known issues at intake. Withholding relevant information may affect the quality or scope of the service.
- You agree to collect the Watch within 30 days of being notified that it is ready. After 30 days, storage charges may apply at our discretion.
- You agree to make payment in full at collection unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing.
- You agree not to use our website for any unlawful purpose or in a manner that could harm Ticklore or other users.
6Payment Terms
Payment is due in full upon collection of the Watch, unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash and electronic bank transfer. Quoted prices are in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) inclusive of any applicable goods and services tax unless stated otherwise. Payment by instalments is not offered as a standard arrangement. If a Watch is not collected within 60 days of completion notice, and no contact has been made, we reserve the right to treat the Watch as abandoned and to recover outstanding service costs through lawful means.
7Cancellation and Changes
You may cancel a service before bench work commences at no cost. Once bench work has started, any costs incurred up to the point of cancellation will be charged. For the Dial and Hand Refinishing Archive Project, cancellation after the dial has been despatched to the external refinishing workshop may result in third-party costs being passed to you. Any changes to agreed scope will be confirmed in writing before implementation.
8Disclaimers
Watch repair involves working with mechanical and electronic components that may be aged or worn in ways not apparent from external inspection. Ticklore exercises reasonable care in all bench work, but we cannot accept responsibility for:
- Pre-existing faults or defects that were present before the Watch was submitted and not disclosed at intake
- Damage resulting from the age or condition of components that fail during or after service, where that failure arises from the component's own condition rather than from our workmanship
- Outcomes of the Dial and Hand Refinishing Archive Project that fall within the variation range expected in artisan refinishing work
- Results achieved on vintage calibres where parts are no longer manufactured to original specification
We do not provide specific rate accuracy guarantees for movement service, as rate performance after service is also affected by temperature, wearing position, and the Watch's own mechanical condition over time.
9Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Ticklore's total liability to a Client in connection with any single service shall not exceed the price paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses arising from a service transaction, including loss of use of the Watch or sentimental value. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for personal injury caused by our negligence.
10Intellectual Property
All content on our website — including text, images, layout, and service descriptions — is owned by Ticklore or used under permission. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or adapt any content from this website without our written consent. Your use of the website is a personal, non-transferable licence to access the information presented. No rights over our content are transferred by your use of the website.
11Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from a service transaction will first be addressed through direct communication with Ticklore. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be referred to the relevant Consumer Claims Tribunal in Penang or, where the claim value exceeds that tribunal's jurisdiction, to the courts of Malaysia in the jurisdiction of Pulau Pinang.
12Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our website or services after a change constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email of material changes if you have provided a contact address.
